BREAKFAST (Romania, 2010, 2’)

BREAKFAST is a simple artistic exposure of making a breakfast. The rhythmic sound of beginning a new day is suggested by the agitated tomato core which is shuddering on the alive sounds of the music. The red core of tomato; the pouring of the oil; opening the gas cooker; the noisy sizzle of the eggs going through the thermal process; all these images are preparing the feelings for breakfast morning. Each element suggests something: the tomato – antioxidant which maintain the skin healthy; the egg – a rich alimentary value; the glass of the water where the bulls of a calcium tablet are dissolving; the warmly dim light of the room; all these are welcome saying “Bon Appetite ! “ in the morning.

FRICA DOMNULUI G is the first part in the director’s diptych about alienation and lack of genuine communication in today’s world. This series, called MAN AT WORK, was completed in 2008 with the film BALASTIERA #186 / SANDPIT#186 (co-director: George Chiper).

SUBCARPAŢI – AM CRESCUT PE LA ROMANĂ / I GREW UP AROUND ROMANĂ (Romania, 2010, 4’)

What do you get if you combine a Scotch tape roll, three spray cans, three light sources, eight 9V batteries, 57 stencil cardboards, a lot of sleepless nights and much more estimations, measurements and adjustments? Well… you may get 5,313 photographs, each of them with a 15-second exposure time, making up an innovative video for the SUBCARPAŢI project. The video is an ice-breaker in terms of production methods, and the “light stencils” used like this create a fluent and almost palpable animation of the urban rush for attaining a goal.
 

URMUZ (Romania, 2006, 20’)

A visual experiment featuring two of the characters of the Avant-garde writer Urmuz, this unconventional documentary is composed of scraps of memories of the people who are currently living on the street where the author used to live, Apolodor Street, followed by two of his absurd stories, shaped in a state of fiction around its two main characters, Stamate and Ismail.
